大马华族族情知多少？   本书是笔者在长期东翻西看的过程中，东拼西凑成文的华情书。本书内容涵盖大马华族在历史、文化、宗教、语文、教育、政治、经济等方面的基础知识。本书结合当代性、综合性与一般性的角度来论述华族方方面面的课题，以便提供一本读者可以“走马观华”的便利导览书。本书也可以视为一本《大马华族社会概况》的一本通式的入门书。   大马华族有691万人，多数人也懂得华文；市面上也看到不少有关华族各领域的专书；但是，却长期缺乏一本以一般大众为对象的当代版综合性通俗本华情书。但愿本书的出版，能稍微填补这个空白。

作者在大量利用英文、马来文和华文一级和二级史料的基础上，对南洋共产党的产生、发展和解散的历史进程进行了系统的梳理，并提出了与东西方学者迥异的一些观点，弥补了史学界对这一课题研究不足的缺憾。全书共分十章，另有前言、结论和附录。在前言部分，作者介绍了东西方史学界对英属马来亚共产主义运动发韧时期的研究现状，和著述本书的目的。在结论部分，作者提出了自己的观点：认为共产国际在东南亚地区推行“东方战略”的成绩不彰显，原因在于它未能有效地引导和及时阻止印尼共产党冒然发动反荷武装起义，致使印尼共产党在起义失败后一蹶不振，无法继续扩大其影响；强调了中国共产党人在“南洋共产党”的框架下，对推动共产国际的“东方战略”所作出的巨大努力和付出的重大代价，肯定了他们对东南亚各国其后在1930年代兴起和发展的共产主义运动的影响。
